Optimize your movement and function with our expert kinesiologists.

What is Kinesiology?

Kinesiology, the study of human movement, is an exciting and evolving field! Kinesiologists can assess movement patterns, muscle activation and strength, flexibility and mobility limitations. They can prescribe and monitor specific customized exercise programs to help address imbalances and restore or improve movement mechanics. What does that mean for you? It means streamlined injury rehabilitation, injury prevention and improvement in lifestyle, work and sport performance.

What Services Do Our Kinesiologists Provide?

At Inertia Physio+, our Kinesiologists offer the service of movement and biomechanical assessment and analysis. In addition, they can provide postural and muscle re-education, exercise prescription for rehabilitation needs, and/or deliver a strength and conditioning program. Whether you need help with injury recovery or, you are looking to increase your athletic performance, they can break down movement patterns in sport and everyday life tasks, find the faults and help correct them. In short, they can help you find a way to move better, faster and stronger.

This service is valuable to professional athletes as well as weekend warriors. Anyone wishing to live a healthy and active lifestyle can benefit from working with a kinesiologist at Inertia Physio+.  By optimizing your movement patterns, you are setting yourself up for star performance and most importantly, improvements in overall health and wellness.

Kinesiology and Proactivity

Did you know that physical activity is proven to reduce the risk of over 25 chronic conditions? The Public Health Agency of Canada states that physical activity is proven to reduce the risk of over 25 chronic conditions. That means that those suffering from heart disease, diabetes, stroke, various mental health conditions, and even select cancers can benefit from kinesiology. Kinesiology is intended to strengthen bones and joints through appropriate and precisely delivered movements, monitored by a certified expert. The trick is to ensure that these movement exercises are smooth, considerate and carefully orchestrated to avoid putting undue strain on the body.

Kinesiology and Manual Therapy

Our hands-on approach at Inertia Physio+ by way of manual therapy is a means to identify, address, and appropriately treat various injuries and movement-hindering conditions. We focus specifically on ligaments, muscles, connective tissue, and joints in hopes of maximizing possible movement while minimizing the amount of pain experienced by a patient. By combining manual therapy to encourage mobility at the joint along with precise exercise movements, our Kinesiologists can help treat acute and chronic pain from symptomatic and asymptomatic triggers. These can include muscle spasms, joint dysfunction, piriformis syndrome, and more.

Manual physical therapy can include soft tissue work, which targets muscles and other soft tissues with strategically administered pressure and massage treatments. Mobilization and the manipulation of limbs incorporate various movements at different speeds and distances in addition to forces of varying intensity. This manipulation aims to improve posture, loosen tight tissues and improve flexibility. This occurs over time through multiple sessions – pacing is essential to minimizing pain and avoiding excessive strain on ligaments, muscles, joints, and other parts of the body.

Inertia Physio+ can also provide manual therapy in the form of strain-counterstrain techniques. This is a practice that targets neuromuscular reflexes that are abnormal, which otherwise can introduce various postural issues, soreness, tenderness, and more. It’s a gentle technique that involves slow stretches based on your position of comfort, and is ideal for acute back pain that can’t be easily treated with other methods of kinesiology – think of it as a “reset button” to help your muscles return to a safe and more comfortable level of tension.

Our Customers

See what our happy customers have to say

Unlike many other physio clinics, you can tell they truly care about helping you.

The team at Inertia physio has single-handedly fixed me. They're extremely knowledgeable and compassionate -- providing top-notch service.

Drew and his team are pros.

I really appreciate how the physiotherapists take the time to work on you for a full 30 minutes as opposed to the typical 5-10 minutes and then 30 minutes of hot towels and other automated processes you see at other clinics.

Hands-down THE best physio I’ve ever experienced!

I feel like I owe this place so much for helping to get my life and favourite activities back and will certainly never hesitate to recommend Inertia Physio+ to everyone I know.

I cannot say enough positive, wonderful things about Sarah and the team at Inertia.

I have been seeing Sarah for a few years and she has always put me back "together" from hip replacements, to knee injuries, daily injuries from having a son who is 6ft9 and has Autism.

I highly recommend Sarah and her team.

My whole family are action sports enthusiasts, mountain bikers, competitive skiers, rugby players etc, so stuff happens!  Sarah has brought us back from numerous injuries, from the minor soft tissue damage to traumatic multiple bone break rehabilitation and everything in between.

Super warming and welcoming atmosphere, every single staff member I came in contact with were so amazing.

Great service and all of needs were addressed phenomenally. Natasha was an amazing physiotherapist. Very attentive and kind. Highly recommend
